Hokitika Beach 27 - 31 January 2021
Driftwood and Sands 2021
15 January 2021
Head down to the Hokitika Beach from Wednesday 27 – Sunday 31 January for the 18th Driftwood and Sands Festival.
Entrants of any age and skill are invited to join in creating sculptures from driftwood and any materials found at the beach. This year there are generous prizes for nine different categories. The registration caravan will be at the beachfront from 9 am, Wednesday 27 January, with public choice voting beginning on Friday 29 January. If want to learn ways to create a piece, a Natural Fixings workshop will be held on Thursday 28 January from 10 am – 12 pm.
Bring your family and friends to view the works as they’re created through the week and then join the artists and organisers on Sunday 31 January for Red Moki’s Treasure Hunt at 1 pm and the prizegiving at 2 pm.
See the website for more information and the programme, and follow them on Facebook.
You can see a rather shaky video of some of the sculptures from the 2020 event below.
