Vote 2022 – Voting opens soon

Voting packs for the upcoming local government election will be mailed to voters this week. The voting opens on 16 September and closes at midday on Saturday 8 October. Each pack contains:

a postal ballot form to complete;
a Candidate booklet with information about the candidates you can vote for; and
a pre-paid return envelope.

If you are returning your ballot by post, it’s very important to put it in the mail by Tuesday 4 October to ensure it reaches the Electoral Officer in time to be counted. Ballots can also be returned to Council’s Customer Service Centre, 36 Weld Street, Hokitika, during opening hours. On Saturday 8 October, ballots can be returned to the Customer Service Centre until midday (12pm).

For residents of South Westland, ballot drop-off boxes will be available at:

Ross Store: 9 Moorehouse Street, Ross (available Friday 16 September – Wednesday 5 October).
Four Square Franz Josef: 24 Main Road, Franz Josef (available Friday 16 September – Wednesday 5 October).
On the Spot Haast: 5 Pauareka Road, Haast (available Friday 16 September – Tuesday 4 October).
